Conference Program

The 2018 Educating for Careers Conference: Investing in the Future (EFC) conference committee invites middle school, secondary, and postsecondary teachers, counselors, administrators, and Industry partners to attend the March 4-6, 2018 conference.

  • EFC will once again go paperless! The conference program will be available for download from the website and through the conference mobile app. There will be no printed version in 2018.
  • Sunday will open with 90-minute interactive Intensive Seminars in the morning sessions and then a 120-minute block in the afternoon to allow for the California Partnership Academies Round Tables.
  • The opening general session with Keynote Dan Thurman is scheduled for Sunday, March 4 at 3:30 pm.

Each year a variety of delivery systems, strategies, and Industry Sectors throughout California’s CTE system are represented in the more than 220 breakout sessions offered over the course of this three-day conference and this year promises to offer even more exciting options. After December 10, 2017, please check the 2018.educatingforcareers.org website under the “Program” link for updates in the breakout session options. Updates and changes will be available on both the website and the EFC2018 app.

The past few years has brought renewed strength in Career Technical Education (CTE) among practitioners. The continued overarching goal of this conference is to offer high-quality, cost-effective professional development for all stakeholders with broad general breakout session themes such as: Administrative Issues; Articulation & Dual Enrollment; Assessment & Accountability; California Partnership Academies Model; Career Pathways/Industry Sectors; Curriculum & Instructional Strategies; Employer & Community Partnerships; Middle School Connections; Mentor & Internship Programs; Secondary-Postsecondary Connections; Student and Teacher Support Systems and Work-Based Learning. The Administrative Strand will continue once again in 2018. There is something for every stakeholder involved in a CTE program – no matter the delivery strategy!
